Baby Games

Traditionally, baby and toddler animals have not had the opportunity to show off their skills and acheivements.  Even the AKC STAR Puppy program is simple and concentrates more on the human than the dog.

The age group from weened to adolescent now has a venue for obtaining the titles that show they are learning all that they need to learn to be amazing pets.   It doesn't matter what species you are working with, the games and exercises that are created mostly for dogs are being done by parrots, cats, rabbits and even chickens.

We would like to see many more species join dogs and horses in being the best they can be - starting as babies !

Baby Animal Games

Based on the sports and games that adult animals participate in, baby animals can learn and show off their skills also. Obviously we take into account physical limitations, endurance and stamina, ability to focus and engage and the general silliness of juvenile animals.

BABY FLOWGILITY

Flowgility is all about strength, structure, balance, and movement.  It is not about speed like agility is.  This makes Flowgility appropriate for juvenile animals (and for seniors).

BABY SHADOW GAMES

Shadow Games teaches about obstacles and scent.  Go through the obstacles, find the scent article and bring it to a holding area.  This is a cooperative adventure with the handler.

BABY HOOPERS

In Baby Hoopers we also use short tunnels.  Juveniles seem to LOVE tunnels and going through hoops.

BABY SCENT GAMES

In training service animals for medical alert, we discovered that they all love finding odor.  And they are competent and reliable at scent games whereas they aren't with obedience or other sports.  Odor motivates them all!

BABY TRICKS

Tricks are for kids !!

Juvenile animals of all species LOVE to learn tricks.

BABY RETRIEVES

Rats and mice are particularly good at retrieves.  Maybe it's because they nearly always take their food to a safe place before eating it!

These games hone an animals ability to pick up items and take them to a holding area or their handler.

BABY RALLY OBEDIENCE

Obedience through a set course is not just for dogs.  All species can learn to follow directions and stay by your side.

We do adjust for those animals too small to walk alongside a human however, or who's legs are short (parrots).  Following a target stick instead of staying by a human's legs.

BABY AGILITY

No major jumping for babies !! But everything else is good to go.
Tunnels, jump bumps, fly throughs, slippery slopes, weavers and more.
